Home Insurance consists of Buildings Insurance and Contents Insurance. You may purchase them separately or as a combined policy. If you prefer to have separate policies you do not need to purchase them from the same insurance provider.
If you live in your own home you should consider obtaining Buildings and Contents Insurance. If you are a tenant or living in someone else's home, Contents Insurance may be sufficient.
The market is very competitive so it pays to obtain several quotes. When comparing quotes, be careful to compare like with like. For example, is the premium for Contents cover on a "new for old" basis or is allowance made for "wear and tear" when a claim is settled? Is the "deductible" or "excess", the sum you will have to cover personally, different.
